XO Membership: How It Works, What It Costs and Who It Fits

Provider terms

XO membership is a deposit-based program, not a fixed-rate jet card: XO prices every trip dynamically and publishes no hourly rate (checked 2026-09-25). Its three tiers ask for a deposit XO describes as refundable ($100,000, $250,000 or $500,000) and an annual fee ($995, $995 or $0) (Provider-stated, 2026-09-25). XO’s Charter Terms describe it as an “air charter broker”.

How XO membership works

Membership sets your terms; each flight is then quoted and booked separately in XO’s app or on its website. The tiers (Provider-stated, XO membership pages, 2026-09-25):

TierMinimum depositAnnual feeGuaranteed flight assuranceEmpty-leg discountLoyalty credit
XO Membership$100,000$995NoNoUp to 2%
XO Reserve$250,000$995In eligible zone, at no charge (non-peak)20%Up to 4%
XO Corporate$500,000$0In eligible zone, at no charge (non-peak)50%Up to 4%, plus spend-tier rewards

XO Corporate adds multiple users on one account and simultaneous aircraft requests; every tier can add “Designated Representatives”. An empty leg is a repositioning flight sold at a reduced price.

XO’s Charter Terms (last updated 2026-04-27) state: “As an air charter broker authorized under Part 295, XO acts as an agent of Passenger … XO does not operate any aircraft”. The DOT’s rule for an air charter broker requires it to give you the carrier’s corporate name before you contract for a specific flight (14 CFR 295.24(a)(1), eCFR issue date 2026-09-15).

What XO membership costs

XO publishes no hourly rate (checked 2026-09-25). Section 7.1 of its Charter Terms says: “Prices for Flight Services are dynamic and updated in real time.” Under dynamic pricing each trip is priced when you book, and XO says the price is “guaranteed at the moment of booking” (XO release, 2025-11-18).

Our comparison therefore shows XO’s hourly rates as “Not published” under “Dynamic” pricing, and the cost calculator computes no estimate for XO. The practical test is a quote for your own routes and dates, read line by line.

The quote may not be the whole bill. Section 7.2 of the Charter Terms (last updated 2026-04-27) lists “Additional Costs” that “may not be included in the price set forth in the Trip Quote and may, at XO’s sole discretion, be recharged to Passenger”:

  • “Applicable Taxes and third party fees (including airport terminal charges)”, “landing, handling and high-density airport fees” and “de-icing, ramp and hangar fees”;
  • extras you request (catering, ground transport, extra or specific crew, entertainment), Wi-Fi charges, an FBO other than the one pre-selected and deep cleaning;
  • “cancellation fees”, a “firm departure surcharge” and the cost of a significant deviation you request;
  • “Carrier imposed charges (including, for example, tarmac fees and fuel surcharges)” and “insurance surcharges”;
  • a voluntary carbon/SAF offset, and “a service fee, which may be applied to each Additional Cost”.

Section 7.3 adds that “all domestic Flight Services are subject to federal excise tax and a domestic segment tax”, and flights departing or landing outside the United States to a federal departure tax.

For XO Membership and XO Reserve, loyalty credits can offset up to 25% of the Flight Cost on affiliated-carrier flights or 10% on others, capped per purchase at $3,000 and $6,000 respectively, and expire 12 months after issue or when membership ends (Credit Utilization Policy, last updated 2025-11-21). The policy does not name XO Corporate.

Availability, peak days and cancellation

XO’s flight assurance benefit is conditional. XO Reserve and XO Corporate include “Guaranteed XO flight assurance within the eligible service zone at no charge (non-peak)”; the zone is not published, and XO Membership has no guaranteed flight assurance (Provider-stated, 2026-09-25).

XO’s FAQ says members can book “where and when you want to fly outside of 24 hours via our mobile app or website”. Any peak-day callout or peak-day premium is not published (checked 2026-09-25).

Annexure I of the Charter Terms lists the 2026 peak days: 13 US dates (January 4; February 13, 16; April 6; July 19; November 22, 25, 29; December 18, 19, 26, 27, 28) and a separate list of 18 international dates. On those dates XO “reserves the right to pull forward or move back departure times by up to 3 hours”, against 60 minutes on other days. See how peak days affect holiday travel.

Cancelling a confirmed booking “will result in the assessment of the cancellation charge specified on the Trip Quote, or as may be subsequently invoiced” (section 9.1).

XO may substitute an affiliated carrier or aircraft at no extra cost; a switch to another carrier requires notice, and you may reject it without a cancellation penalty (section 4.2). See how substitutions and delays are handled.

Coverage and aircraft

XO’s FAQ states: “XO offers whole aircraft private charter flights across the globe.” A March 2026 XO release describes “an established presence in the United States and continued expansion across Europe, Asia and the Middle East”.

Because trips are quoted one at a time, you choose an aircraft per trip rather than buying into a category, from turboprops and light jets such as the Citation Ultra to ultra-long-range types such as the Global 7500 (Provider-stated, XO fleet page, 2026-09-25).

XO’s FAQ says “XO welcomes pets aboard the Vista Members’ fleet”, where pets above 25 lbs “must be leashed to a captain’s chair for takeoff and landing”; no specific pet policy is guaranteed on other aircraft.

Financial safeguards

XO’s FAQ refers to “Vista Global Holding, XO’s parent company”. That identifies the owner; it says nothing about how member deposits are held.

XO calls its memberships “refundable and without blackout dates or expiration”, adding: “All deposits and unutilized funds are fully refundable within a 60-day period. All benefits are subject to agreement terms.” The membership agreement is not public, so these refund terms are Provider-stated only. We found no statement on escrow or segregated accounts in the terms or pages read (Not published, checked 2026-09-25).

What XO states about audits and who operates its flights

PJReviews has not audited or assessed the safety of any operator or program. These are XO's own statements, quoted word for word with the date we read them, and the operator records we found.

Audit and registration statements

  • “XO employs a recurring safety audit process for all third-party operators that participate in our partner fleet of more than 2,000 aircraft, spanning all cabin classes.”

    — Private Jet Safety & Security | Ratings & Protocols | XO, read September 25, 2026

  • “These approved operators meet regulatory requirements. Many have also been awarded prestigious industry accreditations including: IS-BAO Stage 3 / ARG/US Platinum / Wyvern Wingman”

    — Private Jet Safety & Security | Ratings & Protocols | XO, read September 25, 2026

  • “The company recently unveiled an in-house flight simulator at its Columbus, Ohio headquarters, enhancing its training capabilities, and has achieved Triple Crown safety status, a top-tier industry distinction that includes Wyvern Wingman Pro, ARGUS Platinum Elite, and IS-BAO Stage 3.”

    — Press Release - Vista America Achieves FAA Diamond Award of Excellence, read September 25, 2026

Who operates the flights

  • Western Air Charter Inc. (dba Vista America) — U.S. air carrier (named Affiliated Air Carrier) (XO Charter Terms (last updated 2026-04-27), read September 25, 2026).
  • VistaJet Limited — Malta Air Operator Certificate — AOC MT-17 (VistaJet Limited / VistaJet GmbH General Terms and Conditions of Carriage, Rev 20, read September 25, 2026).
  • VistaJet GmbH — German Air Operator Certificate — AOC D-326 (VistaJet Limited / VistaJet GmbH General Terms and Conditions of Carriage, Rev 20, read September 25, 2026).
  • The FAA's list of certificated air operators lists Jet Select, LLC (dba Vista America) as holding a Part 135 certificate (retrieved September 25, 2026).

Editorial view: who it fits

PJReviews’ opinion, written from the labelled facts on this page.

Read from the published terms, XO membership suits:

  • flyers who want a deposit XO calls refundable and no fixed-rate commitment, and will price each trip;
  • companies that want several travellers and simultaneous flights on one account (XO Corporate);
  • flyers who book more than 24 hours ahead and can plan around the listed peak dates.

It suits less well buyers who want a fixed hourly rate, flight assurance at no charge on peak days, or a quoted price that is final. See jet card or on-demand charter.

XO works more like a structured charter account than a jet card. Fees are modest ($995 a year, $0 for XO Corporate; Provider-stated, 2026-09-25) against a deposit XO calls refundable, and its Charter Terms and Credit Utilization Policy are public, including peak dates and substitution rules.

The trade-off is cost certainty: there is no published hourly rate, a quote may exclude taxes, fuel surcharges and other Additional Costs, guaranteed flight assurance excludes the entry tier, is described as “at no charge (non-peak)” and has no published zone, and the membership agreement is not public (all checked 2026-09-25). Judge it on real quotes, set against fixed-rate programs on our comparison.

Not confirmed

We did not find these terms in XO's public materials, or could not confirm them, as of October 4, 2026. That says nothing either way; ask the provider.

  • XO Membership: initiation fee, term, taxi-time billing, repositioning charges, round-trip discount, peak-day booking notice, peak-day surcharge, escrow or segregation of funds
  • XO Reserve: initiation fee, term, taxi-time billing, repositioning charges, round-trip discount, peak-day booking notice, peak-day surcharge, escrow or segregation of funds
  • XO Corporate: initiation fee, term, taxi-time billing, repositioning charges, round-trip discount, peak-day booking notice, peak-day surcharge, escrow or segregation of funds

What to confirm before you buy

  • The membership agreement for your tier, and what “fully refundable within a 60-day period” means: timing, fees, and when the period starts.
  • What flight assurance covers (XO Reserve, XO Corporate), its eligible service zone, and how peak days are treated.
  • Which Additional Costs your Trip Quote already includes, and the service fee on any cost recharged.
  • The cancellation charge on each Trip Quote before you accept it, especially on 2026 peak dates.
  • The carrier named for each flight before you book, and how and by when to reject a substitution to another carrier.
  • Whether XO Corporate falls under the Credit Utilization Policy, and whether deposits are held in escrow or a segregated account.

Questions

What is XO membership?

A deposit-based membership from XO, whose Charter Terms describe it as an “air charter broker”. Members book whole-aircraft charters through XO’s app or website, each priced dynamically rather than at a fixed hourly rate.

How much does XO membership cost?

XO lists XO Membership at a $100,000 minimum deposit and $995 a year, XO Reserve at $250,000 and $995, and XO Corporate at $500,000 with no annual fee (Provider-stated, 2026-09-25). Each flight is priced per trip.

Is the XO deposit refundable?

XO states: “All deposits and unutilized funds are fully refundable within a 60-day period.” The membership agreement that governs refunds is not public (checked 2026-09-25), so ask for it before paying.
