Nicholas Air Jet Cards: How They Work, What You Pay For and Who They Fit

Provider terms

Nicholas Air sells four jet cards: RISE, a deposit from $200,000; BLUE, blocks from 15 hours in one aircraft type; STEEL JET, for Gulfstream G600 access; and LITE, with sliding departure windows and blackout days (Provider-stated, 2026-09-25). It publishes no hourly rates (checked 2026-09-25), so this page works from the billing rules in its FAQ.

How Nicholas Air jet cards work

The cards differ in how you buy and what you can fly (Provider-stated, card page and FAQ, 2026-09-25):

CardHow it is soldStated terms
RISEA deposit in increments of $200,000, $350,000, $500,000 or $1 millionThe deposit “can be used for any aircraft in our entire fleet”
BLUE15, 30, 60 or 100 hoursHours in “one of the NICHOLAS AIR specific aircraft types”
STEEL JETEntry size not published“Specifically for Member access to the G600 aircraft”; sold alone or with another Nicholas Air program
LITEEntry size not published“sliding departure windows and black out days”; eligible aircraft not published

The FAQ says members “may also interchange between aircraft types for the most efficient use of funds” and may schedule several aircraft on the same day (Primary source). Interchange means using card funds on a larger or smaller aircraft category. See how interchange works.

The FAA’s Air Operator search lists Nicholas Services, LLC, doing business as Nicholas Air, as the holder of Part 135 certificate 4NSA852M (data updated 2026-09-21, retrieved 2026-09-26). We did not find the legal name of the company that sells the cards in Nicholas Air’s public materials (checked 2026-09-25).

What a Nicholas Air jet card costs

Nicholas Air does not publish hourly rates; its site offers jet card pricing through a short form (checked 2026-09-25). Its FAQ does publish several of the rules that turn a rate into an invoice (Primary source, FAQ, read 2026-09-25):

  • Rate lock: “the hourly rate is guaranteed for 12 months”.
  • Fuel: “there are no extra costs for fuel or the flight crew. A fuel Surcharge may be applied based on Jet A Index.”
  • Taxi time: a flat 6 minutes for taxi in and out, added to occupied flight time.
  • Daily minimum: “The daily minimum for our Jet Card Program is 1 hour and includes taxi time.”
  • International fees: trips to or from locations outside the United States “are subject to international fees”, which “vary based on the location”.

The card page also lists “No Re-Positioning Fees” (Provider-stated); repositioning is flying an empty aircraft to or from your trip.

Hypothetical example, using only the published rules: on a day with a single 30-minute flight, flight time plus taxi stays under an hour, so you are billed the 1-hour minimum for half an hour in the air.

Not published (checked 2026-09-25): an initiation or annual fee, de-icing charges and any round-trip discount. Whether rates include the 7.5% federal excise tax is not confirmed; the pages we read do not say. Without a published rate, our cost calculator lists Nicholas Air under “Quote required”.

Availability, notice and cancellation

Nicholas Air lists “Guaranteed Availability” among the advantages of its cards (Provider-stated, 2026-09-25). A guarantee of this kind depends on a notice period and exceptions; we did not find the notice period, peak-day rules or a peak-day surcharge in Nicholas Air’s public materials (checked 2026-09-25).

LITE’s departure-window length and number of blackout days are not published (checked 2026-09-25).

Cancellation is set out in the FAQ (Primary source): “Only if NICHOLAS AIR incurs an expense will a cancellation fee be imposed. Some programs offer as little as 12 hours notice prior to takeoff in order to avoid a cancellation fee.” The FAQ does not say which programs offer 12 hours or what counts as an expense, and peak-day cancellation terms are not published (checked 2026-09-25).

See what cancellation policies mean.

Aircraft substitution rules are not published (checked 2026-09-25). The FAQ states: “Each Member is assigned a personal travel representative 24/7/365” (Primary source).

Coverage and aircraft

The FAQ states: “Our service area is Global” (Primary source), subject to the international fees above. The company page adds: “We conduct missions to over 9,000 airports and FBOs” (Provider-stated).

The card page lists the Phenom 100, Phenom 300E, Citation CJ3+, Citation Latitude and Challenger 350, and Gulfstream G600 access is sold through the STEEL JET card (Provider-stated, 2026-09-25).

Pets, empty legs, guest use, app booking and corporate accounts: not published (checked 2026-09-25).

Financial safeguards

Nicholas Air’s company page says it “remains 100% independently owned by its Founder and CEO” (Provider-stated). That describes ownership; it says nothing about how card deposits are held.

We did not find a statement on escrow or segregated accounts (deposits held apart from the seller’s operating money), a refund policy or a card term in its public materials (checked 2026-09-25). The FAQ does state: “Hours never expire” (Primary source). See how to evaluate financial safeguards.

What Nicholas Air states about audits and who operates its flights

PJReviews has not audited or assessed the safety of any operator or program. These are Nicholas Air's own statements, quoted word for word with the date we read them, and the operator records we found.

Audit and registration statements

  • “NICHOLAS AIR Additionally Holds IS-BAO, Argus Platinum, and Wyvern Ratings”

    — Nicholas Air safety culture page, read September 25, 2026

Who operates the flights

  • The FAA's Air Operator 14 CFR Search lists Nicholas Services, LLC (d/b/a Nicholas Air) as holding a Part 135 certificate (retrieved September 26, 2026).

Editorial view: who it fits

PJReviews’ opinion, written from the labelled facts on this page.

Read from the published terms, Nicholas Air’s cards suit:

  • flyers who want hours that never expire and a 12-month rate guarantee, and can accept a fuel surcharge tied to the Jet A index;
  • buyers who want to start with 15 hours in one aircraft type (BLUE);
  • flyers who need a Gulfstream G600 without buying a fractional share (STEEL JET).

They suit less well buyers who want to compare hourly rates before contacting sales, or who need a large-cabin jet between the Challenger 350 and the G600, since its fleet page lists none.

Nicholas Air is clearer about how a flying day is billed than about what it costs. Its FAQ sets out the 12-month rate guarantee, taxi, daily-minimum, expiry and cancellation rules in plain terms (Primary source, 2026-09-25).

The gaps are the price and the protections around it: no published rates, a fuel surcharge of unstated size, and no public notice period, peak-day rules, refund terms or statement on how deposits are held (checked 2026-09-25). Get the rate sheet and card agreement, price a sample of your own trips, and weigh the result on our comparison.

Not confirmed

We did not find these terms in Nicholas Air's public materials, or could not confirm them, as of September 25, 2026. That says nothing either way; ask the provider.

  • STEEL JET Card: minimum purchase, minimum deposit, initiation fee, annual membership fee, term, refund policy, federal excise tax, round-trip discount, standard booking notice, peak-day booking notice, peak days, peak-day surcharge, cancellation (peak days), aircraft substitution, interchange between categories, guest use, pets, empty legs, escrow or segregation of funds

What to confirm before you buy

  • The rate sheet for your card and aircraft, whether it includes federal excise tax, and how the Jet A-indexed fuel surcharge is calculated.
  • The notice period and peak-day rules behind “Guaranteed Availability”, and LITE’s blackout days and window length.
  • What counts as an expense under the cancellation policy, and which programs allow 12 hours’ notice.
  • How BLUE hours convert when you fly a different aircraft type, and the entry size for STEEL JET and LITE.
  • Refund terms for unused funds, the card term, and whether deposits are held in escrow or a segregated account.
  • Which company you contract with, and who operates each flight.
