The 42nd Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz takes place January 22–24, 2027, on the frozen lake of St. Moritz, Switzerland, with free practice games on Thursday, January 21. The organizer, Evviva Polo St. Moritz AG, traces the tournament to 1985, when, in its words, "snow polo had its world premiere here."
- Dates: Friday, January 22 to Sunday, January 24, 2027, with practice games on Thursday, January 21
- Venue: the frozen Lake St. Moritz, "just steps from the village centre," according to the organizer
- Access: ticketed general admission for visitors aged 16 and over; under-16s enter free
- Nearest airport named by the organizer: Engadin Airport in Samedan
Polo on a frozen lake
The organizer describes the event as "the world's only high-goal tournament on snow," staged "against the magnificent backdrop of the snow-capped mountains of the Engadin Valley," with "social events both on the lake and in the first-class hotels in St. Moritz." Its published program schedules matches at 11.00, 12.15 and 14.30 on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the 14.30 match is the final for the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz Trophy. Saturday also brings the traditional "Schlitteda," a horse-drawn sleigh parade on the lake, at 13.30.
Tickets and who can attend
Thursday's practice games are free: the tickets page lists them from 12:00 to 15:00 with "FREE ENTRY (including grand stand)." From Friday to Sunday, general admission is ticketed. The page states: "Visitors aged 16 years and above require a ticket. Children and teenagers under 16 years receive free access." General admission covers "the public area, including entertainment, exhibitor tents, and more," and the program opens the polo village at 10.30 on Friday.
Three further ticket types are listed. VIP tickets cover the VIP tent with food and drink included, a seated lunch and the VIP grandstand. Perrier-Jouët Chukker Club tickets give unassigned seating in the Chukker Club grandstand. Gala tickets cover Saturday's cocktail reception and gala dinner; the tickets page lists after-party access as included, though the event program separately marks the after party as by invitation only, so confirm access when booking. Tickets do not include the polo matches, and the program lists the gala venue as still to be announced. For VIP and Chukker Club tickets, "Children aged 3 years and above require a ticket." Tickets are sold through the official tickets page, which does not list prices. Some evening functions on the program, including Thursday's players' presentation and Sunday's farewell party, are by invitation only or restricted to partners, members, players, officials and grooms.
Flying private into Samedan
The organizer's location and travel page names Engadin Airport in Samedan as the closest airport, "about 10 minutes from St. Moritz by car," and says it "is Europe's highest-altitude airport and accommodates private jets, air taxis and helicopter transfers." The airport's official site lists it as Engadin Airport St. Moritz – Samedan (ICAO code LSZS) and gives its elevation as 1,707 metres (5,600 ft). Its operating-hours page sets winter hours from 08:00 local time until the end of evening twilight, 365 days a year, with customs clearance available without restriction during operating hours. The airport's pilot information page states that arrivals and departures at LSZS carry a special briefing requirement because of the demands the airport places on pilots and aircraft. The site also lists ground handling and inflight catering.
For international arrivals, the organizer also names Zurich, Milan and Munich, with onward travel "by train, private transfer or rental car." From the Serletta Parking Garage beside St. Moritz station, the page says, the venue is a few minutes' walk across a pedestrian bridge onto the lake. What to confirm with your provider
- Does the flight crew meet Engadin Airport's briefing requirement for arrivals and departures at LSZS?
- How does the airport's winter closing time, the end of evening twilight, fit a departure after Sunday's final, scheduled for 14.30?
- Does the tournament weekend call for any advance arrangement at Samedan, and who makes it?
- Which alternate airport is planned if weather prevents a Samedan arrival, and how would the ground transfer to St. Moritz work from there?
- Who arranges handling, customs clearance within operating hours and the car transfer to the lake?
