Swiss helicopter operator and Leonardo service centre at Lodrino, Ticino
Karen SA is a Swiss helicopter company founded in 1999 by Enzo and Luca Carlino. Its legal address is in Tesserete, and its operational and maintenance base is at the Lodrino airfield in Ticino (now Riviera Airport, formerly Lodrino Air Base), where it works from Hangar 4.
The company describes itself as a certified Swiss helicopter operator serving private and business clients as well as public bodies. Its passenger services include helicopter transport to destinations chosen by the client and scenic flights, with examples such as an Aletsch Glacier route and a flight to Monte Carlo.
Alongside flying, Karen SA offers helicopter management and support for setting up private and commercial operations, and it runs pilot training. Since 2004 it has been an official Leonardo Helicopters service station; independent coverage describes its Lodrino hangar as able to hold up to 10 helicopters and its work as covering Leonardo types including the AW109, AW119, AW139 and AW169. It is also described as a Pratt & Whitney Canada service provider.
The company says it works across Europe, Africa and Asia. Its website does not list the helicopters available for charter, so flyers should ask which aircraft and certificate will be used for a given trip.
