German helicopter operator for humanitarian and government missions, Kirchanschöring
Global Helicopter Service GmbH (GHS) is a helicopter operator based in Kirchanschöring, in the Bavarian district of Traunstein, Germany. The company says it started in 2014 in a small office. In 2024 the regional government of Upper Bavaria approved a special-purpose helicopter landing site for daytime visual flights on the company's premises in the town.
GHS concentrates on contract flying rather than private leisure charter. Its own site lists humanitarian aid, government services, mining support and aerial firefighting as its main mission types, and also describes carrying injured patients with medical care on board. Alongside flight operations, the company offers continuing airworthiness management (CAMO), Part 145 maintenance and storage, training that includes an EASA-qualified Bell 412 flight training device, and management of privately owned helicopters.
According to the company, it has access to more than 40 aircraft. Medium types listed are the Bell 412 and Sikorsky S-76C++, and the heavy type is the Airbus H225 Super Puma, which GHS describes as suitable for long-range flights with up to 19 passengers and for heavy lifting. Recruitment listings for the company name the same three types.
GHS lists operating sites in Germany, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Western Sahara, Sudan and South Africa. Job postings describe its work as focused on Africa and the Middle East for humanitarian organisations and government bodies. The company states that its quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and that it holds EASA approval. For 2024 it reports 4,755 flight hours, 23,661 passengers and about 406 tonnes of cargo.
