How Jet Card Daily Minimums and Booking Notice Periods Shape Your Trips
By PJReviews.com · October 1, 2026

Two clauses in a jet card agreement shape how a short flight is counted and how late you can book it: the jet card daily minimum and the booking notice period. On the three program pages cited below, read on October 1, 2026, the two published daily minimums were one hour and two hours, and the stated notice periods ran from eight hours to 120 hours on peak days.
- A daily minimum is a floor on the flight time a program counts for a day of flying.
- Short hops are where it shows: a 35-minute flight sits below both published minimums we found.
- Booking notice is how far ahead you must book for the card's standard terms to apply, and peak days can lengthen it.
- What happens if you book inside the notice period differs by program, so get the answer in writing.
What a jet card daily minimum is
A daily minimum is a floor on the flight time a program counts for a day of flying. A three-hour trip clears both minimums below; a short hop does not.
Two published examples show the range. According to the Nicholas Air FAQ as of October 2026, "The daily minimum for our Jet Card Program is 1 hour and includes taxi time," and card members "are billed only for the flight time they occupy the aircraft plus a flat 6 minutes for taxi in and out time." The Jets.com jet card page states: "Standard daily minimum is 2.00 hours across all cabin classes." Jets.com also says its hours are deducted "from takeoff to touchdown," with no taxi-time charges.
Take a hypothetical 35-minute flight as the only flying of the day. Under the Nicholas Air terms quoted above, 35 minutes plus the flat six minutes for taxi comes to 41 minutes, which is 19 minutes short of the one-hour minimum. Under the Jets.com terms, 35 minutes is 85 minutes short of the two-hour minimum. Ask the provider how a day like that appears on your statement.
Ask too whether the minimum applies per day or per leg. Both pages describe a daily minimum; a contract that set a minimum on each leg would count a day of two short legs differently. Jets.com says its minimum applies across all cabin classes. On other programs, ask whether it changes with the aircraft you fly, a topic our guide to how jet card aircraft categories change trip flexibility covers.
How booking notice works on standard and peak days
Booking notice, also called lead time or call-out time, is how far ahead of departure you must request a flight under the card's standard terms. A program can set a longer period for peak days, as the first example below shows.
Jets.com shows how the period can change with the card, the route and the date. Its page says it requires "72 hours' advance notice for all mainland U.S. flights and 96 hours for international trips" on its Access Pass card, that "During peak holiday travel, a 120-hour notice is required," and that its Access+ card has "a shorter advance booking window (48 vs. 72 hours)." The Fly Alliance jet card page states a much shorter period: "Eight hours' notice guarantees an aircraft in your category."
The peak-day calendar matters as much as the hours. Jets.com says it designates 36 Peak Days for Access Pass and 26 for Access+, and that "Peak Days are published annually." Fly Alliance lists "No blackout dates, no peak-day surcharge." Our guide to how jet card peak days affect holiday availability and fees covers the calendar side in more detail.
What happens if you book inside the notice period
Two of the programs address this, and they describe different outcomes. Fly Alliance says shorter notice "is usually possible and is quoted at the same published rate — it just is not guaranteed." Jets.com says: "If you need a last-minute trip outside these booking windows, we can arrange an on-demand charter flight typically within a few hours." Ask any program you are considering which applies, and at what price.
How the two terms interact with taxi time, repositioning and cancellation
A minimum is only as costly as what counts toward it. The Nicholas Air minimum "includes taxi time," while Jets.com counts from takeoff to touchdown, so the same short flight sits at a different point against each floor. Repositioning, the flying an aircraft does to reach you, is another line to check: Jets.com and Fly Alliance both state they do not charge repositioning fees, and Jets.com adds that "Certain unique travel circumstances may incur pass-through costs." For trips abroad, see what international repositioning fees mean for jet card travelers.
Notice and cancellation can also be tied together. Jets.com gives the same 72-, 96- and 120-hour figures as its Access Pass cancellation windows and says "Flights cancelled inside these windows are billed at charter market rates rather than your Jet Card rate." The Nicholas Air FAQ says, "Only if NICHOLAS AIR incurs an expense will a cancellation fee be imposed." Our guide to what jet card cancellation policies mean before you book goes further.
Questions to ask before you sign
Published terms change, so ask for the current contract wording. You can compare jet card programs side by side on PJReviews.com first, then put these questions to each provider:
- Is the minimum applied per day or per leg, and does it change with the aircraft category?
- Does taxi time count toward the minimum, and is it charged as actual time or as a flat allowance?
- How would a day with a single short flight appear on my statement?
- What is the booking notice for domestic, international and peak-day flights?
- Which days are peak days this year, and when is that calendar published?
- If I book inside the notice period, is the flight at the card rate, at a charter rate, or subject to availability?
- Are the cancellation windows the same as the notice periods, and what is charged inside them?
- Can you send the contract clauses covering each of these before I fund the card?
