Jet charter, aircraft management, FBO and maintenance at Oakland County Intl, Michigan
Pentastar Aviation is a business aviation company headquartered at Oakland County International Airport (PTK) in Waterford Township, Michigan. It traces its history to 1964, when it began as the internal flight department of the Chrysler Corporation. Edsel B. Ford II acquired the business in 2001 and is its owner and chairman.
Charter flights are operated by its subsidiary Pentastar Aviation Charter, Inc., an FAA Part 135 on-demand air carrier, so it flies aircraft under its own certificate rather than acting only as a broker. Alongside charter, the company offers aircraft management, aviation advisory for owners and buyers, and maintenance with avionics and interiors work.
Pentastar also runs the FBO at Oakland County International, including in-house catering through its Fivestar Gourmet operation, and the FBO has been rated highly in AIN's annual FBO survey.
On safety, the charter company holds an ARGUS Platinum rating and Wyvern Wingman PRO certification, and Pentastar has been an IS-BAO registered operator under Parts 91 and 135 since 2011. It also joined the Air Charter Safety Foundation's Aviation Safety Action Program in 2018.
The website does not list fleet types or numbers, so flyers should ask which managed aircraft are available for a given trip.
