FBO and business jet maintenance at Seattle's Boeing Field (BFI)
Clay Lacy Aviation is a US business aviation company founded in 1968 by Clay Lacy, who started it as a jet charter business. Its headquarters is at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, and it has other locations in Orange County, Waterbury-Oxford in Connecticut, Sun Valley in Idaho, and Seattle.
The Seattle location is at Boeing Field (King County International Airport, BFI). The company opened a full-service FBO and jet centre there in 2002 and finished a 40,000 sq ft hangar on site in 2009. The Seattle repair station, approved under FAA Part 145, is open around the clock. It handles AOG call-outs, line maintenance and heavy inspections on Gulfstream, Embraer, Dassault Falcon, Bombardier and Textron business jets.
For many years Clay Lacy also offered aircraft management and on-demand charter. Its history page now reports that Solairus Aviation is acquiring the management and charter divisions. Flyers looking for charter from Seattle should check whether those services have moved to Solairus.
For aircraft owners and crews flying into the Pacific Northwest, the Boeing Field site's main role today is ground handling, hangar space and maintenance support, not passenger charter.
