Charter Auction

CharterAuction.com is an online private jet charter service. In October 2009 Aviation Week reported that AeroShares Charter LLC, a charter management company based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, had bought the website from its previous owner, Jets.com, and planned to relaunch it.

The service is built around an auction. Travellers enter their trip details and aircraft operators compete to fly it, and the website says each auction can return up to six options. The site does not describe itself as an operator, and the bids come from third-party operators.

The website also lists empty-leg flights, a price calculator, a flight tracker and concierge help. It says each aircraft option comes with a safety rating from an independent safety auditor but does not name that auditor.

The site gives a toll-free number and an email address but no street address. It does not say how long the current business has been trading or whether AeroShares still owns it.
