Bill Smothers founded the company in February 1974 as a flight school and fuelling operation, and he was Marshalltown's airport manager for 35 years. Ethan Nasalroad and Stephen Valbracht bought the parent company in 2009. Valbracht is named as Marshalltown airport manager, and Nasalroad manages Newton Municipal Airport.
The company describes itself as a full-service FBO. It lists turbine aircraft charter, aircraft sales, aircraft management, maintenance and flight instruction. The Marshalltown chamber of commerce lists management, sales, maintenance and instruction but not charter.
Third-party sources describe the parent company as a Part 135 charter operator flying turboprops such as the Pilatus PC-12. This was not confirmed on an official page, so flyers should ask which aircraft and certificate would be used for a charter.
