Van Nuys-founded FBO and maintenance group; charter and management moved to Solairus
Clay Lacy Aviation is a US business aviation company founded in 1968 at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, where its corporate headquarters remains. It began as a jet charter operator after its founder, aviator Clay Lacy, leased a Learjet, and it grew into one of the larger US aircraft management and charter firms.
In August 2026 Solairus Aviation agreed to acquire Clay Lacy's aircraft management and charter divisions, with closing targeted for late September 2026. Reports at the time put Clay Lacy's managed fleet at about 140 aircraft, with 51 on its own Part 135 certificate. Clay Lacy's website now directs management and charter enquiries to Solairus.
The company's current website focuses on FBOs at Van Nuys (VNY), Orange County (SNA), Waterbury-Oxford (OXC) in Connecticut and Friedman Memorial (SUN) in Idaho, plus maintenance services. These range from line maintenance and heavy inspections to full MRO, AOG support, avionics, interiors and detailing, with maintenance also listed at Seattle's Boeing Field (BFI). It states it has been certified carbon neutral since 2019 and supplies sustainable aviation fuel.
Fort Worth, the location on this listing, does not appear among the company's current sites. Flyers seeking charter with former Clay Lacy-managed aircraft should contact Solairus Aviation.
