Vertiport Chicago FBO

Vertiport Chicago is a privately owned heliport at 1339 S. Wood Street in Chicago, next to the Illinois Medical District. It officially opened in 2015 and carries the FAA identifier 43IL.

The site covers about 10 acres. It has a 30,000 sq ft hangar, an 11,700 sq ft passenger terminal with a VIP entrance and a 22,000-gallon fuel farm. It can park eight helicopters on the ramp and up to 17 in total. It operates around the clock, and visiting pilots need prior permission to land.

For visiting helicopter pilots, the heliport offers landing, parking, fuel and executive and pilot lounges. For passengers, it has an air taxi charter service and has offered VIP transfers to O'Hare, Midway, DuPage and Chicago Executive airports. It also runs sightseeing tours and hosts events.

The heliport also supports air ambulance and medevac flights for nearby hospitals. Its website says organ and patient transfers land at no cost.

Flyers booking a charter here should ask which helicopter operator will fly the trip, because the sources reviewed describe the facility rather than a named fleet.
