Swedish regional airline with business flights and helicopter services from Umeå
Jonair is a Swedish airline headquartered in Umeå, with its base at Umeå Airport in Västerbotten. The company was founded in 1972 and has grown from air taxi work into a small regional carrier that also flies scheduled routes.
Its scheduled network connects Umeå with Östersund and Pajala with Luleå, and links Stockholm Arlanda with smaller Swedish towns including Sveg, Mora, Torsby and Hagfors. Next to the scheduled flights, the company runs a business aviation department that sells charter flights on its own aircraft, a helicopter department, and experience and airshow flying.
The fleet shown on the company website includes a Cessna Citation 560XL, a Beechcraft 1900C, three Beechcraft Super King Air aircraft, a Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain and an Airbus (Eurocopter) EC120B helicopter. The helicopter has been used for scenic flights; Wikipedia describes the helicopter activity as starting in 2017 in cooperation with Kallax Flyg.
For private flyers in northern Sweden, Jonair is an operator rather than a broker: charter flights are flown on aircraft from its own fleet. The business aviation office is located at Gate 4 at Umeå Airport. Helicopter bookings are handled through a separate section of the company website.
