Helicopter operator in Lagos serving Nigeria's offshore oil and gas sector
Caverton Helicopters is the helicopter unit of Caverton Offshore Support Group Plc, a listed Nigerian company providing aviation and marine logistics to the oil and gas industry. The group lists its head office on Victoria Island, Lagos, and its helicopter business is reported to be based at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The group site lists helicopter charter and maintenance for oil and gas operations as the core activity of Caverton Helicopters. Sister units in the group cover marine transport, aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (Caverton MRO), and a ground and flight training centre.
Caverton built up its fleet around the AgustaWestland (now Leonardo) AW139. Industry reports from 2011 and 2012 describe deliveries of AW139s for offshore transport, including six aircraft financed with support from Shell Nigeria, and a 2015 report put the AW139 fleet at nine. Leonardo has also announced an AW139 service centre run by Caverton in Lagos. An aviation database lists later additions including Sikorsky S-92, Bell 407GXP, Bell 429 and AW109 Trekker types.
Reported facilities beyond Lagos include Port Harcourt, Warri and an operation in Cameroon. The company's work is mainly contract flying for energy clients, so private flyers looking for ad hoc helicopter charter should confirm availability and aircraft directly.
