Helicopter operator flying Kedarnath shuttles and Char Dham charters from Dehradun
Kestrel Aviation Pvt. Ltd is an Indian helicopter operator active in Uttarakhand. It is best known for pilgrimage flights to the Char Dham shrines in the Himalayas. Its packages depart from Dehradun, and accident investigation records show the company keeps helicopters at Sahastradhara Helidrome in Dehradun and runs its own helipad at Sersi in the Kedarnath valley.
Its main products are Char Dham, Do Dham and single-shrine (Ek Dham) packages. It also lists charter flights, VIP transport, links to remote areas and search and rescue. During the yatra season it flies scheduled shuttle trips between its Sersi helipad and Kedarnath.
The company operates its own helicopters. Its website features the Leonardo (Agusta) AW119, a single-engine helicopter, and accident investigation reports name AW119-type aircraft registered VT-CLR and VT-RNK as Kestrel aircraft.
India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has published preliminary reports on two Kestrel events: a serious incident at the Kedarnath helipad involving VT-CLR in May 2024, and an accident on 7 June 2025 shortly after takeoff from Sersi involving VT-RNK, in which press reports said all on board were unharmed. Final reports had not been found when this profile was written. Pilgrims may wish to review these reports and current DGCA rules for Char Dham flying.
