Commercial helicopter operator headquartered in Yellowknife, NWT
Great Slave Helicopters (GSH) is a commercial helicopter operator with its head office in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The company says it has operated since 1984. It runs operational bases across the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
Its work is mostly industrial and resource-sector flying: drill moves, seismic support, utility work, Class D external-load operations, forestry and geophysical surveys. The fleet is made up of single and twin-engine turbine helicopters. The site does not publish a type-by-type fleet list.
GSH was once a subsidiary of Discovery Air. After Discovery Air entered creditor protection, a 2018 court-approved sale moved the business to a company led by Saskatchewan aviation entrepreneur Pat Campling Jr. Northern news reports at the time put the deal at 24 operational aircraft and about 200 staff.
For private flyers, GSH is best suited to remote northern helicopter charter rather than executive travel. Its site links to a safety certifications section, but the certifications are not described in detail.
