Family-owned Arctic charter airline with bases in Cambridge Bay, NU and Yellowknife, NT
Adlair Aviation (1983) Ltd is a family-owned charter airline in Canada's central Arctic. It has two bases. One is Hangar #1 at Cambridge Bay Airport (CYCB) in Nunavut. The other is an office at 122 Archibald Street in Yellowknife (CYZF), Northwest Territories. Independent sources name Cambridge Bay as the main base and headquarters, with administrative offices in Yellowknife.
The company says Rene and Paul Laserich founded it in 1983. They carried on the work of their father, Willy Laserich, a northern bush and medevac pilot who was inducted into Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame in 2010. The Hall of Fame says Willy started an earlier company, Adlair Aviation Ltd, in 1973.
Adlair flies charters that move passengers and freight. Customers include individuals, private groups, government agencies and corporations. The website also lists aviation consulting, plus hangar and FBO services. The Yellowknife FBO itself is run by Diamond Air, a company in the same group. Kitikmeot Air is also part of the group.
Adlair operates its own aircraft rather than arranging flights with other operators. Its photos and history mention the de Havilland Twin Otter, the Beechcraft King Air and a Learjet 25B. The company says the Learjet was added to improve medevac service in the Kitikmeot Region and flew out of Cambridge Bay for about 20 years. The current fleet size was not confirmed from the company's own pages.
Adlair serves communities and work sites across Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Flyers who need trips in the remote high Arctic, including freight movements, should ask about current aircraft, availability and routes when they request a quote.
