Falcon jet charter from Oshawa, Ontario; King Air charter from Iqaluit, Nunavut
SmoothAir Charter is the southern Ontario charter division of Air Nunavut Ltd., a northern Canadian charter operator established in 1989 and based in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Air Nunavut opened its jet base at Oshawa, east of Toronto, in December 2012 under the SmoothAir Charter name.
The company operates its own aircraft. From Oshawa it flies Dassault Falcon business jets, starting with three eight-seat Falcon 10s in 2012; trade press reports later additions including Falcon 20s and a Falcon 900EX registered in late 2024. In the north, Air Nunavut flies pressurised Beechcraft King Air 200 turboprops from Iqaluit.
Its Falcons are fitted to use short and unpaved runways, which suits remote northern strips as well as smaller airports in the south. The company offers passenger charter for business and leisure, plus cargo charter.
SmoothAir says it flies across North America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Arctic, and that its quotes include standard costs such as fuel. Air Nunavut states it is licensed by Transport Canada and the Canadian Transportation Agency.
