Family-run air service and charter operator in Montmagny, Quebec
Montmagny Air Service, also known as Air Montmagny, is a small air operator based in Montmagny, Quebec, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. Its office is on Boulevard Tache Est, and it is the main air link to Isle-aux-Grues, an island without ferry service for much of the winter.
Its core work is a daily service between Montmagny and Isle-aux-Grues that carries island residents, workers and students who attend school on the mainland. Beyond the regular crossing, the company offers aircraft charter, sightseeing flights with commentary over headsets, packages tailored to groups, and aerial work.
The company says it now operates five aircraft. Transport Canada records summarised on Wikipedia, as of 2019, listed two Britten-Norman Islanders, two Partenavia P.68s and a Cessna 206, all piston aircraft suited to short island strips.
The business describes itself as passed from father to son since 1980. Wikipedia traces the original Montmagny Air Service back to 1952 and records a sale to Gaston Gosselin in 1980, before the Air Montmagny name was adopted in 1993.
For flyers, it fits short regional hops, island access and small-group charters in the lower St. Lawrence area rather than long-range jet travel.
