Ontario charter airline flying CRJ and Dash 8 aircraft for groups, government and ACMI
Great North Airlines is a Canadian charter airline headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario. It started in 2020 as Pivot Airlines after buying the assets of the defunct Air Georgian, and it rebranded as Great North Airlines in January 2026. It holds Canadian air operator certificate 19227.
The airline focuses on contract and group charter. Its website lists essential and emergency missions, ACMI and capacity-purchase flying for airline partners, fly-in fly-out crew transport for the resource sector, charters for sports teams and groups, and service to First Nations and remote communities. It also offers aircraft management. Clients include government agencies, NGOs and First Nations.
The fleet is regional aircraft, not business jets. The website lists the CRJ regional jet with 50 seats and the Dash 8-100 and -300 turboprops with 37 and 50 seats. Wikipedia listed four aircraft in April 2026, with another Dash 8 on order.
The company says its operations are Transport Canada certified and run under a safety management system. Its bases are at Toronto Pearson and Region of Waterloo International. It is best suited to groups of roughly 30 to 50 passengers rather than small private trips.
