Westland Helicopters

Westland Helicopters Inc. is a helicopter charter and contract company with full-time bases in Houston and Burns Lake in central British Columbia. The Houston base is on Rail Street. The company says it has served Western Canada for more than 35 years. It is not connected to the British helicopter maker of the same name.

Most of its work is utility and industrial flying: forestry development and management including aerial ignition, mining and mineral exploration support, camp and drill moves, surveying, and access to remote telecom, weather and radio sites. It also does wildlife survey and capture work in British Columbia and the Yukon.

For passengers, Westland offers custom charters for photography, filming, fishing and sightseeing to remote rivers, glaciers and alpine lakes. It also flies search and rescue and medevac missions, with helicopters set up for patient transfers and medical crew.
