Helicopter operator founded 1961 with bases in Alberta and BC, incl. Grimshaw
Alpine Helicopters Inc. is a helicopter operator in Western Canada. The company says it began operations in Calgary, Alberta, in 1961, and it runs a network of permanent bases across Alberta and British Columbia. Trade coverage lists these as Calgary, Canmore, Kananaskis, Grimshaw/Peace River and High Level in Alberta, and Kelowna and Golden in British Columbia.
Its public-facing work is best known for sightseeing flights in the Canadian Rockies from Canmore and Kananaskis, and it supports heli-skiing through partners such as Canadian Mountain Holidays. Private charters are flown in Bell helicopters with VIP interiors seating from 6 to 14 passengers.
Much of its business is commercial and utility flying: wildfire management and suppression support, power-line work, exploration, silviculture, construction lifts, filming and back-country lodge support. The company says it is the exclusive helicopter provider for mountain rescue work in Banff. Its northern Alberta bases, including Grimshaw, have historically focused on forestry, pipeline and oil and gas work.
A 2026 SKYTRAC announcement put the fleet at 39 helicopters operating from seven permanent bases.
For private flyers, Alpine is a direct operator rather than a broker, which suits mountain access, lodge transfers and sightseeing in the Rockies.
