Floatplane fly-in fishing, hunting and bush charter operator near Cochrane, Ontario
Cochrane Air Services LP is a floatplane operator and fly-in outfitter in northeastern Ontario, based on a lake just north of the town of Cochrane. The company says it has been running remote fishing and hunting trips for more than 60 years.
Most of its business is fly-in fishing and hunting. It keeps more than 30 outpost cabins on lakes spread across roughly 7,000 square miles of wilderness, with pike, walleye, brook trout and lake trout as the main species, and it also runs fly-in moose hunts. It is the main air shuttle for Kesagami Wilderness Lodge, according to Northern Ontario Travel.
The company is also a licensed charter operator and flies bush charters beyond its own camps, such as drop-offs for canoe trips on rivers that run to James Bay. Its website lists two de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beavers and one Cessna 180, flown on floats.
This is a seasonal bush-flying service that starts in mid-May. It suits anglers, hunters and paddlers who need to reach remote lakes in the Cochrane District, not travellers looking for business jet charter.
