Northern Canada helicopter operator for industrial charter, based in Yellowknife
Great Slave Helicopters (GSH) is a Canadian helicopter operator founded in 1984. Its head office and main hangar are at 106 Dickins Street in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The company trades as Great Slave Helicopters 2018 Ltd., the entity that bought the business in a court-supervised sale in 2018. Before that it belonged to Discovery Air.
Its work is mainly industrial and government charter: drill moves, seismic support, utility work, external load (Class D) operations, forestry and geophysical surveys. It lists operational bases in the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
GSH says it operates more than 30 single- and twin-engine turbine helicopters. Types listed include the Bell 206LR LongRanger, Airbus AS350 B2 and B3, Bell 205A1++, and Bell 212 models. The Bell 212s include aircraft converted to single-engine configuration under a supplemental type certificate. Seating ranges from about five to fourteen passengers depending on type.
The Yellowknife facility includes more than 8,000 square feet of hangar space, plus operational storage and a paint booth. GSH is a fit for remote northern projects and crew moves rather than leisure travel. Clients should agree aircraft type and load needs in advance.
