Turboprop, floatplane and charter flights from Azilda near Sudbury, Ontario
True North Airways is an air operator based at 1 Airport Road in Azilda, just outside Sudbury, Ontario. A regional tourism listing says the company was formerly known as Sudbury Aviation. Aviation trade press names Northfield as its parent company.
The company offers Pilatus PC-12 turboprop charters, floatplane charters to remote lakes, and Turbo Beaver flights that carry passengers and cargo to off-grid sites. It also runs fly-in fishing and hunting trips to its camps north of Sudbury, and float-flying instruction.
In March 2025, ch-aviation reported that the company had obtained a Canadian CAR 704 commuter certificate, which let it offer larger aircraft for charter. Before that it could charter only aircraft up to 5,700 kg. The same report listed a mixed fleet: a Gulfstream G100, a Cessna Citation II, a PC-12, three DHC-2 Beaver floatplanes, light piston aircraft and an AS350 helicopter. ch-aviation later published a headline saying the company had exited Gulfstream operations, so the jet fleet may have changed.
Its flying is focused on Northern Ontario, including remote lakes and communities that have no road access. Flyers who need jet equipment should confirm with the company which aircraft are currently on its certificate.
