Turboprop and piston charter, scenic flights and pilot training from Cessnock, NSW
Quantum Aviation is a general aviation business at Cessnock Airport in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, roughly 45 minutes from Newcastle and under two hours from Sydney. It combines a charter service with a flying school and local scenic flights.
Its charter service handles passenger trips and urgent freight around Australia. The company says the service runs around the clock and can take bookings at short notice. According to its website, flights operate under the Air Operator Certificate (CASA.AOC.0045) held by Core Aviation Pty Ltd, or under Part 141 certificate CASA.FTO.0456, unless stated otherwise.
The charter fleet listed on the website includes the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan and the Pilatus PC-12 single-engine turboprops, along with several single-engine piston aircraft. The site menu also lists a Beechcraft King Air. Scenic flights over the Hunter Valley vineyards use a Cessna 172 or the Grand Caravan.
Training is the other large part of the business. The website describes a CASA-approved flying school that teaches from the Recreational Pilot Licence up to the Commercial Pilot Licence, along with ratings, endorsements and turbine type training. A CASA-approved simulator is used for some modules.
Charter customers will mostly be looking at regional and domestic trips in turboprop or piston aircraft rather than jets. Before booking, it is worth confirming which certificate a given flight will run under.
