Family helicopter operator in Lyndoch, Barossa Valley: scenic tours, transfers and charter
Barossa Helicopters is a family-owned helicopter company on the Kies family's 400-acre property on Hoffnungsthal Road, Lyndoch, in South Australia's Barossa Valley. The company says the family added helicopters to its farming and grape-growing business in the mid-1980s. Peter and Sandra Kies are named as founders, and Bridgette Hasting is chief pilot.
Most of its flying is tourism, such as scenic flights over the Barossa, food and wine packages, outback pub trips and special-occasion flights. For private flyers, the useful services are private charters and helicopter transfers between Adelaide Airport or accommodation and the Barossa and other regions. The company also does aerial work.
The company's own pages mention the Robinson R44 and the Airbus AS350 Squirrel. The R44 is a small piston helicopter suited to short hops for two or three passengers. The AS350 is a turbine type that can carry more passengers.
The service area is mainly South Australia, including the Barossa Valley, Adelaide and the Murray River region. Flyers who need a scheduled transfer should check in advance which aircraft and seating are available.
