Air charter, regional flights and scenic tours from Kununurra, Broome and Karratha
Aviair is a Western Australian airline and charter operator headquartered at Kununurra in the East Kimberley, with further bases at Broome and Karratha. It was founded in 1984 by Kerry Slingsby as Slingair Heliwork, later traded as Slingair, and took the Aviair name in 2016 after it was bought by Michael McConachy and Geoff Hamilton, the owners of HeliSpirit.
The company offers corporate and private air charter from its three bases. It also runs regular passenger flights linking Karratha, Newman, Port Hedland, Broome and Derby, along with East Kimberley services, and its website refers to the Nexus Airlines brand alongside the scheduled network.
Aviair says it operates a fleet of more than 30 air-conditioned aircraft. Wikipedia's 2021 fleet list includes Cessna 208 Caravans, Beechcraft King Air B200s and Pilatus PC-12s, and a later entry lists De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 aircraft, so the mix has changed over time.
From Kununurra the company also flies scenic tours over the Bungle Bungle Range, Mitchell Falls and the Cockburn Range. Charter clients should ask which base and aircraft type suits their route, particularly for remote Kimberley and Pilbara strips.
