Charter and scenic flight operator in Kununurra, Broome and Karratha, Western Australia
Aviair is a Western Australian aircraft operator headquartered in Kununurra in the East Kimberley, with further bases in Broome and Karratha. This listing covers its Karratha base. The company was founded in 1984 as Slingair and took the Aviair name in 2016, when it was bought by the owners of the helicopter operator HeliSpirit. It is part of HM Consolidated.
Aviair operates its own aircraft. Its work covers corporate and private charter, scenic flights over the Kimberley to sites such as Mitchell Falls, the Bungle Bungle Range and the Cockburn Range, and tour packages combining flights with helicopter trips and river or lake cruises.
The company says it has more than 30 aircraft available for charter. A 2021 fleet list compiled on Wikipedia showed Cessna 208 Caravans, Pilatus PC-12s, King Air B200s, Citation Mustang jets, a GA8 Airvan and a Beechcraft Baron, giving options from short-strip turboprops to light jets.
Scheduled regional services across the Pilbara and Kimberley, including Karratha, Port Hedland, Newman and Broome, are now marketed under the Nexus Airlines brand, which Aviair set up and which began flying in July 2023. Charter remains under the Aviair name and suits mining, government and tourism groups needing access to remote airstrips in northern Western Australia.
