Australian regional airline flying Metroliners on scheduled, charter and freight work
Sharp Airlines is a regional Australian airline founded in 1990 and headquartered in Hamilton, Victoria. It is primarily a scheduled carrier, but it also offers aircraft for charter and carries freight.
Its scheduled network centres on the Bass Strait islands. Sharp took over Flinders Island and Essendon Airport routes from Airlines of Tasmania in 2010 and later added King Island services, linking the islands with Melbourne's Essendon Fields, Launceston and northwest Tasmania.
The fleet is made up of Fairchild Metroliner twin turboprops, a type commonly used for regional passenger and charter work in Australia. Published fleet counts differ between sources, so flyers should ask the airline which aircraft would be used for a specific charter.
Charter customers listed by the airline include corporate, government and resource-sector clients, alongside business and leisure travellers. The airline also sells holiday packages to Flinders Island and King Island.
