Cairns-based air charter broker arranging aircraft and helicopters across Australia
Independent Aviation is an air charter broker based in the Cairns area of far north Queensland, with listings at Edge Hill. The company says it has been arranging aircraft charters since 1989.
It does not present its own fleet. Instead it arranges flights with third-party operators, sourcing whatever aircraft suits a job, from twin-engine aeroplanes and business jets to commercial airliners and helicopters. A 24-hour operations desk handles bookings.
Work covers passenger charter for corporate, government and leisure travel, freight including dangerous goods and urgent medical consignments, and medical and disaster-response flights. It describes its reach as Australia, the Asia Pacific and international.
Industry coverage from 2016 reported that it held the contract to supply charter aircraft for Queensland Government air operations, a procurement role it had managed since 2010. A broker directory entry from around 2017 listed it as a member of The Air Charter Association and noted it was not ARGUS registered or a Wyvern member.
