Helicopter charter and aerial work across Tasmania from Cambridge Airport, Hobart
Helicopter Resources is a helicopter operator based at Cambridge Airport, near Hobart in Tasmania. The company says it has flown in Tasmania since 1970 and calls itself the oldest continually operating helicopter company in Australia. Its Cambridge base includes maintenance, support and training facilities.
Its services include passenger transport and charter across Tasmania. It also does external-load (sling) lifting, film and photography flights and firefighting support, and it offers remotely piloted aircraft (drone) services.
The company lists ten helicopters on its website: four Airbus H125s, two Airbus AS350B2s and four Kawasaki BK117 twins. The single-engine H125 and AS350 suit small passenger groups and utility work. The BK117 is a twin-engine type.
Helicopter Resources has a long record of flying in Antarctica. A 2023 Australian Flying report described it as the incumbent contractor to the Australian Antarctic Division, with about 40 years and 35,000 hours of flying on the continent. In that year it joined Rex Group, as a sub-contractor, in a bid for a later Antarctic helicopter tender.
The company describes itself as the only BARS-registered operator in Tasmania. BARS is the Flight Safety Foundation's Basic Aviation Risk Standard. It also says it runs an integrated safety management system with internal and external audits.
